Pomegranate
I am currently in a photography course called Photo as Muse. In the class we are combining experimenting with combining photography with other art-making techniques. For example one week we will be painting and drawing in relation to a photograph whether we are drawing from the photograph or drawing on top of it. The whole first half of the semester is designated to playing with photography to expand the way we currently use the medium. For this exploration we were told to pick an object, place or thing. I chose a pomegranate. Initially this choice was made based off the color of its juice alone but the more I researched pomegranates I only found them more alluring. As I continue to work with the pomegranate, the fruit is becoming a substitute for my own flesh. The seeds are becoming memories and beliefs.
My thoughts and visual discoveries surrounding this project will be documented heavily here. This work is also greatly influencing my photographs for Senior Thesis. All of my photographs in this exploration can be found here.
